Organic/natural search is one of the most important channels for acquiring customers. During the period, SEO can bring 10% to 60% of the traffic to the entire website. So the bottom line is that you need to avoid any potential ecommerce SEO pitfalls. The risk of an e-commerce site that loses search rankings is that it will go out of business. Don't let this happen to you. Here are five common ways e-commerce sites can gain insights or directly affect search rankings, or even knock out existing rankings. 1. Switching platforms without taking SEO into account Launching a new e-commerce site email list or switching to a new platform are the most common reasons for a drop in rankings and sales. Maybe the new site is not as SEO friendly as the previous version. Or, when you switch platforms, delete the page and change the URL without redirecting. As a result, Google can't find new content and pages that you previously indexed and ranked for. Make sure you don't suffer when your search engine rankings drop. Here are common issues to look for when changing platforms: • Implemented a proper 301 redirect map that includes all pages that have backlinks pointing to them. • Crawl the site using SEO software to ensure all pages are properly indexed. • Audit all meta titles, descriptions, H1 tags and body content to ensure that the move from each web page to its new page and URL destination was successful. • Try to keep all classification changes and reorganizations to a minimum during migration. Basically, don't delete a category and don't remove it from the navigation bar. • Make sure there are no "noindex" or "nofollow" tags on your pages. • There is a significant drop in website speed from one website to the next. You can also use the Google SearchConsole to export all the URLs that get the vast majority of clicks. Just go to your default view, click "Pages", and extend the date by 90 days to get as much data as possible. From there, you can audit these individual pages and make sure that when you switch to a new platform, Google doesn't remove them for the keyword phrases they currently rank for.
